Five aerospace cock-ups are sent to retrieve samples from an asteroid believed to be rich in lithium deposits. Theyve been selected for this mission because of their marginal ability, making them the most cost-effective alternative to experienced astronauts, expensive robots or trained monkeys. In other words, they are dispensable. When they reach the asteroid and send LAST, a fabricated division of NASA, the information and mineral samples requested, it becomes clear that LAST has no intention of facilitating their return. Like Lost in Space, Gilligans Island, and Lost the crew of the Exposition 7, though stranded, continue their lives in a business as usual kind of way inside the orbiter, while cautiously discovering the unknown world outside of it on the asteroid. Returning home is the goal and several ill-conceived, ill-fated attempts are made toward that end.
